Make Your Own Lip Balm
Buzz on in and learn how to make your own lip balm with herbalist Alicia North of North Star Botanicals. Common ingredients like pure beeswax, vegetable oils, herbs, honey and pure essential oils are combined to make healthy “food” for your skin. It’s easy to do and a fun way to re-discover how our ancestors cared for themselves before the invention of CVS. From the naturally vibrant, ruby red hues of Mint-O-Lips to the intoxicatingly sweet Choc-O-Lips, we'll experiment with our own recipes as we learn about the different qualities of the materials used to custom blend for specific needs. Alicia is a native of the beautiful Northwest Hills of Connecticut where she resides with her husband Mark, their youngest son Alex and a host of furred and feathered family.

Photography with Michael Greenspan
Do you like to take pictures? Have you ever wished your pictures looked more like the ones you've seen in magazines or galleries? Come learn a bit about what makes a photograph interesting or eye-catching, and how you can improve your photographic eye. Please bring your own camera - digital cameras are ideal, but ordinary 35mm cameras are fine too, including disposable ones if you don't have a camera of your own. If you have a camera with a special lens or anything of that nature, feel free to bring it as well! If you bring a camera that has settings or features that you haven't tried, or don't really know what they are, please also bring the manual so we can help you figure them out! We'll talk a little bit about what makes a good photograph, and then you'll have the opportunity to take some pictures, and then share them with each other and talk about what you were thinking when you took them. Come ready to talk about and play with photography! Michael lives in the Boston area and is excited to be at his first unschooling gathering ever. He considers himself an unschooler even though he was conventionally schooled clear through college, and plans to unschool his own kids someday.
